The short version
We collect an email address if you give us one, so that we can send you the newsletter. That is the whole of it. There is no advertising network on this site, no third party ad tracking, and no data broker relationship.
The newsletter
If you subscribe, we store the email address you submit, the type of subscription, the site it came from, the date, and the country code supplied by our hosting provider. We use it to send the newsletter and for nothing else. We do not sell, rent, share or trade subscriber data, and sponsors never receive it. A sponsor buys a labelled line in an issue, not access to you.
You can unsubscribe from any issue. When you do, the record is removed.
Hosting and logs
The site is served as static files through a content delivery network, which keeps operational request logs of the usual kind for security and reliability. We do not build user profiles from them.
Cookies
This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies. There is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to.
External links
We link to institutional sources such as the NHS, Cancer Research UK, the British Association of Dermatologists, the World Health Organization, the Met Office and regulators. Those sites have their own privacy policies and we do not control them.
One article on this site carries a single editorial link to an external commercial site. It is disclosed on the page. It is not an advertisement, it was not sold and it was not paid for.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted, through the contact page. Since the only thing we are likely to hold is an email address, this is usually a very short conversation.
Children
This site is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children and the newsletter is not aimed at them.
Changes
If this policy changes we will change this page and move the revision date in the footer. We will not change it retrospectively to permit something we have already done.
